How To Backup Blog With Xkit
Anonymous asked:
I want to know where the bookmarker extensoin saves it's files for a manual backup and restore of just the bookmarks that I have saved.
This isn't possible, sorry. We don't save files, we save addon data, which your browser handles - Bookmarker's data is contained in XKit's storage area, which includes everything XKit stores. We would have to build an import/export tool into Bookmarker itself for this.
If you don't mind your other extension data coming with it, you can use XCloud to back up or transfer extension storage. You can also reset extension storage individually with the "Reset Settings" button when viewing an extension's settings in My XKit.

On the new Tumblr beta, XKit completely breaks and disappears from the site. I'm worried that staff may have put in code to stop the extension from working properly. Again this is beta, so things could change, but it definitely happens now.
No, XKit just needs to be rewritten to work with it - we have some progress already.
Since the beta is taking feedback, you might want to take this time to try using Tumblr without XKit, and pass along your thoughts about how to improve the vanilla experience!

Since yesterday I can't open blogs anymore. I can only open them on the site of my tumbr dashboard but not as an own site. I tested it on a browser wihtout xkit and there it works
This is a current Tumblr problem. It seems as if browsers you haven't logged into Tumblr with will work, but as soon as you log in, blogs will redirect to the dashboard. Blogs with custom domains are not affected by this for some reason.

If I click on the magnifying glass on my blog, is there any way to delete tags that I've since taken off posts but still show up there?
As far as we know, no. Once you've used a tag on your blog, it's indexed as a tag you've used forever, and untagging or deleting posts doesn't decrease Tumblr's internal count of how many times you've used a given tag.

with the built in soft refresh (which isn't an extension I'm using so I'm not entirely sure what it does) in the beta can you still turn off endless scrolling and view your dash in pages of 10 posts each like it's possible to do now? I really prefer being able to refresh a page halfway through reading my dash (if something doesn't load properly the first time) without it loading all the new posts as well or scrolling back up to the beginning..
You currently can't turn off endless scrolling on the beta. If a paginated dashboard is important to you, make sure to tell @feedbackbot!

Just wanted to give you a heads up that all of my replies to asks are being deleted. I try to answer a question, and it won't save the answer. I tried posting and then saving, and even copying and pasting using the html function rather than rich text. But nothing worked. I had to uninstall xkit to get my inbox to work again.
This is a known issue (to us) with Tumblr's ask editing. Since XInbox technically edit the ask in your inbox to post it, and Tumblr is discarding any edits to the answer body (even in already-published answer posts), using XInbox will discard your answers.
However, all other edits work fine, so you can publish asks without XInbox and then edit the tags on afterwards. Also, while it's a common myth that you need XInbox to queue or draft asks from the inbox, this is untrue - you simply have to hold down the ALT key to see the options without XInbox. This means you can draft answers and then put the tags on before publishing them.
We're trying to contact Tumblr support about it, but the support form is currently broken. The support form being broken is a known issue to Tumblr and is being worked on. For now, we simply recommend disabling XInbox.

Thank you for all you do. I'm wondering whether any current xkit extensions include an option to hide follower count on the sidebar/etc? There used to be a thing called Stylish that did that in Chrome but it stopped working a while back.
Yep! It's in Tweaks, the very last option.

Hello! I'm so sorry to be annoying! I love your tag replacer extension and have used it a number of times in the past with great success. However, today I've been trying to use it, and it does work - it rename's the tag. But when I search my blog /tagged/newtag none of the posts show up. When I search /tagged/oldtag all the posts are still there, with the new tag, but on the wrong page. I hope this makes sense. I'm not sure if it's a Tumblr issue or Xkit.
This is a Tumblr issue - all Tag Replacer does is replace tags on individual posts, the same way you can yourself.
It's to be expected that changing tags (especially a lot of them) takes a little while to update your tagged pages, so you should see everything work as expected after a day or so. If waiting doesn't work, the only thing left to do is to contact Tumblr support.

Do u have X kit for phone? I don't mean an app, I mean like. On the internet but on my phone, not a computer
Not really. The only mobile browser that supports addons is Firefox on Android, and while you can install New XKit on there, New XKit does not work with Tumblr's mobile site.
